OT: other mailing lists

It's recently come to my attention that egroups.com has been bought out
by Yahoo!, so a lot of mailing lists may be looking for a new home.

I wanted to mention that Mallorn/hort.net would be willing to host any
of these horticultural lists, so if listowners on other lists that you
subscribe to say that they need a new host please feel free to mention
Mallorn as a possibility.

A lot of lists are worried because of Yahoo!'s position on information
ownership. Their Yahoo! Clubs has this statement:

"(c) With respect to all other Content you elect to post to
other publicly accessible areas of the Service, you grant
Yahoo the royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive
and fully sublicensable right and license to use, reproduce,
modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works
from, distribute, perform and display such Content (in whole
or part) worldwide and/or to incorporate it in other works
in any form, media, or technology now known or later
   developed."

   http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/ (section #8 is juicy)
   http://help.yahoo.com/help/egroups

The same thing happened with Geocities a while back.

Chris

P.S. People ask me why I'd host their lists. I say, "Why not?"
