This is from rusty memory, orchid seed lacks nourishment so must be grown in
a medium that allows germination plus specialized (and usually sterile) early
growth.
There are numerous orchid pages on search engines, they are the most
interesting plants. A friend bought and gifted me with a "moth orchid" last
year and it bloomed on my desk for about six months. Our old friend HD often
has them for around ten dollars.
