Re: Plants that don't do too well for me

I had very good luck with Anemone ranunculoides and A. nemorosa in my Ohio
garden (zone 5). They were planted under shrubs in leaf humus in an east
facing location and increased quite well from year to year. I agree, they
did whither away after a while, but not until after they had set seeds and
they did come back strongly the following year.

Last year I moved to St. Charles, IL (also zone 5) and brought with me some
potted Anemones. They are still in the pots because preparing the new beds
has taken me longer than expected, but I will soon get them into the ground.
This time they will go into a bed on the north side of the house, where they
will have some morning and late afternoon sun. I do hope that they will
adjust to their new home although the soil here does not contain as much
organic material as their bed in Ohio.

I suggest you give them another try. If you find the right spot for them,
they are quite easy to grow.
