tell me about it Gale.......... I'm located in NE MS. near the AL. state line and right now it's so dry I would have to blast to get anything in or out of the ground. I've got tons of plants that I want to divide and relocate, and I have several new plants that I've picked up from time to time and kept alive, but until it rains several times it looks hopeless.
I have 8 new daylilies that are to be delivered sometime this month, haven't a clue what I'm gonna do with them. And by the way, I have a pink brugmansia in full bloom right outside my kitchen door. I counted 26 blooms. It is a sight to behold. I overwinter mine in the basement, however this year I will be destroying the mother plant and have plans to take as many cuttings as I have pots to put them in.
I don't have any luck with these in the ground, but they do great for me in pots.

It has been a very long time since I posted on the list. I was kind of out of pocket for about a year or so. It's good to be back.......

I have gotten a good laugh from those of you who say you just "tuck in" a plant here or there - you make it sound so easy! In my case it would be more like pry and heave and hack and chip and blast! to get anything in the ground here. When it's not an absolute brick as it usually is all summer, the incredibly tough grass puts up a heck of a fight. Things in shade are barely surviving, but those that don't bloom unless they are in sun - are burning up. Still discovering things that died while I was gone & SO forgot to water them. Siberian iris. Clematis. I think I've saved my astilbe by punching a hole in a jug next to it & filling it every morning. And the dahlia that died to the ground is re-sprouting. Maybe it still has time to make enough bulb to save & bloom next year. Those of you who can just "tuck" - I'm green with envy!
