Ground has, indeed, been concrete. If you water where you intend to
dig deeply the day before you want to work the soil, you will find
your concrete clay has loosened up and is workable once more. In the
heat we've had, even setting a sprinkler on a bed for 2 hours just
moistens the soil to workable stage; doesn't get to sticky clay
stage. With cooler weather, might need to water 2 days before.
