Barbara: Cannas are either very reliable or very iffy. Which Cannas are you
growing? I grow several differnt species and hybrids---some are every
faithful, others I grow just for the foliage because I can't get them to
bloom, even with fertilizer--they bloom when they "just darn feel like
it"...two come to mind right away, they are Tropicanna (Phasion) and Pink
Sunburst. Some of the faithfuls are Madame Butterfly (beautiful color,
doesn't self clean, but never without bloom), Black Knight, Intrigue,
Australia, Adia, etc.
Fertilizer and a good amount of water will always help...they love water.
