I always think there is a place for most ornamentals, sometimes the problem
is site and it can be loved in another place in the garden but I am with
Merri here. I wouldn't plant one either for any reason. There are many new
hybrid honeysuckles and you would be in less trouble with one of those.
Trumpet vines (Campsis) need a pergola all to themselves and it needs to be
concrete or something as strong. It wants to be a good distance from any bed
and kept checked by a lawn mower. I watched one pull down an old porch on a
house near one of mine some years ago. You really don't want to plant
something that needs inspection every two weeks with the pruning shears.
Also it comes up all over the lawn, one of those things you wish you never
brought home. Also, it shows up in donation sales, take care, don't buy it
no matter what the tag says.
