I agree with you MERRI
I thought my husband was going to go into a decline when I brought mine home, but nooooooo I had to see for myself. Lord, I thought we were never gonna kill the thing, not sure we have. It reminds me somewhat of the cypress vine. Round-Up won't kill it, digging to China doesn't get rid of the roots. "taking a gun to it won't solve the problem either. for the past 5 years or so my husband has dug for the roots and has poured round-up down the hole. I still expect to see a sprout come up 3 miles down the road. ha ha ha.

I agree about trumpet vine. It nearly tore apart a house I lived in years
ago. We tried for years to discourage it. It gave me enormous respect for
plants you can't turn your back on and I wouldn't plant one if you paid me
to.

Yes get your shears out!ago.
My parents had trumpet vines at their home in Oklahoma years and years
They started with one but as I was growing up they spread and spreaduntil
our house looked like the castle in the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale.a
After I married and moved to my own home in Massachussetss, my wife
prevailed on me to plant a trumpet vine against my better judgement. After
few years they spread and spread until they were present all over my 3/4
acre lot.
Nip them in the bud!!!

Speaking of reseeding....---------------------------------------------------------------------
A friend planted a trumpet vine by my veggie garden gate... about two
years ago... this year it has pods about 8+ inches long.... Duh!... IF
those are all full of seeds how many are viable? Do I need to get the
shears out?
Also got a shocker a few weeks back... Had planted some clematis last
fall... ( dollar a plant sale again.. took 5 but the tags were gone,)
but one turned out to be sweet autumn... blooming it's heart out!
