I have a tricyrtis that I planted here in 1998 and I've only seen it bloom once in 4 years (it sure is pretty!). It gets plenty of fertilizer and always has plenty of buds, but three of the four years we had a hard freeze before it could bloom.
The one year it did bloom, it bloomed in late October - is that normal for a zone 5 plant? Our average first frost is October 20th. Seems like a lot of work (on the part of the plant) for nothing! Would it help to move it into more sun - it's shaded 90 percent of the day under the house eaves.
Your opinions appreciated.
