RE: Miscanthus Silver Feather

Yes it is hot and dry here this summer.  No rain since early June.  It is
pushing 90 F today.  The Miscanthus seems to perform the same for me whether
it is hot or cooler.  It always blooms beautifully, but never any seedlings.
That's probably just as well, some other grasses make plenty of babies -
like Helictotrichon sempervirens & Stipa tenuissima (they love my gravel
paths!).

Paul and Marilyn....wonder if the lack of seeding is heat related?  I
understand that a lot of ornamental grasses don't even bloom in the
UK, with their much cooler summers....now, I know it gets hot where
you are, Paul, but think your season may just be too short...but it
doesn't get all that hot (normally) in Portland, does it, Marilyn?
Or are you having that unusual hot spell that parts of the PNW are
experiencing this year, too?
