I have had around 300 'matrona's and never had one really flop over, break
yes but not flop- 'Autumn Joy' flops once in a while.

I have a row 'Matrona' that was just great last year-but do to neglect was
over come with tall "weeds" this year and by the time I got the "weeds" taken
care of my poor 'Matriona's were not thick and dark, but still not flopping.
'Matrona' has large leaves with pinkish midribs and edges.

Could you have "Morhrchen' ?-- leaves are a blackish brown color, grows the
same size almost as 'Matrona' but becomes darker.

Both the above Sedum's have large dull pink flowers late in the year.

Sedum's I think flop when they get to much water and too much nitrogen or
when they are too dry and have no nutrients. And the number one reason for
flopping is that they get to big for their one gallon pots and tip over.

Another worth while upright Sedum to grow is 'Autumn Fire'
