Re: drying sedum autumn joy

I let them dry 'on the hoof', Bob. I don't bring them in till they are a
(dried) rich red-brown; sometimes not until the following spring, because I
like the structure that plants give to the winter garden, under snow or
not. Generally, the only time I cut plants back in the fall is when the
foliage is not healthy. You should be able to bring the Autumn Joy in once
the bloom is mature and either leave it to dry in an arrangement in water,
or hang it to air dry. Other listmembers will know about that. Some
flowers such as yarrows I try to catch at just the right time for drying,
but Autumn Joy takes care of itself here in my garden.
