RE: Hakones must look better with some heat

Larry,
I am not sure what is going on with the Hakone grass on the wholesale level.
We ordered several cultivars of the latest and greatest and most of them were
ratty looking when we received them and they never came out of it. Out there
struggling still... we had to set them as they were not something we would
want offer a customer.
I am not so sure they are best grown on at the wholesalers for a while to
decent size before being messed with. The larger sizes we have been able to
obtain grow on best. The 72 fare the poorest.
Open shade is best for hakone grass... that is the reason for purchasing
them...a grass that performs well in shade.

I had a hard time selling the hakones grass as it didn't look very good in
the pot. So does it like it hot? Shade isn't it? Where do you have yours
planted? I will try them again next year, hope gardeners saw them in the
gardens and liked them. LOVE the picture of them, but the plant wasn't very
pretty in the pot. Any suggestions? Thanks Becky
