Propagating Roses

Has anyone out there successfully propagated roses? Two years ago I
planted two varieties of roses. One variety did not survive, and
needless to say, I didn't keep records of the two types I planted, so I
am trying to propagate from the surviving rose bushes. I have taken
cuttings, used rooting hormone, tried some with humidity bags and some
without. I've tried five cuttings and failed five times.
