I did one sort of by accident for my move three weeks ago. In July, I
took a cutting from my favorite rose bush and used rooting hormone and
stuck it into sand/dirt mix. I fully intended to baby it and put it in a
ziploc and coddle it all winter. . . . well . . . . . we all know about
best laid plans . . . .

I chucked it in with the rest of my plants on my son's sleds and just
left 'em out in the sun. Watered regularly until I could get my plants
into the ground. I reached to plant the last pot and here is this
perfectly miniature rose bush!!! One tiny (4" or less) stalk filled with
leaves and a few miniscule buds!!!!!(which I cut off immediately) I had
completely forgotten abou the little darlin'. All the others that I've
coddled over the years have succumbed. I forget about this beauty and it
flourishes!

There is a rose list (www.mallorn.com) that has one poster that will send
you a long list of things he does to propagate roses. His instructions
are straightforward and reasonable. Perhaps you can search the archives
over there and find it.

Good luck.
