I agree. Plus, everything I've heard or read says that although tent
caterpillars are ugly, they rarely kill a tree.
Cutting the branch off and burning is a good alternative. Another idea I
heard was to cut the branch off, bag it in a trash bag, and put it in the
freezer for 48 hours.
I agree-- I would not use diazinon for any reason. Around our house we not
only have the usual critters, but also lots of tree frogs, migratory
songbirds, and raptors. Diazinon gets into the food chain and the
groundwater, and can affect and/or kill just about anything in addition to
the intended. I'd rather have the tent caterpillars.
