The Florida Daffodil Society is the brainchild of John Van Beck, an Illinois
transplant who when told he couldn't grow daffodils in Florida took that as a
challenge. he has trialed many cultivars and has a fairlly long list of those
that survive and even flourish for him in the Tallahassee area. He is working
on extending his research to orlando. I'm pretty sure the Florida homepage
has a list of those daffodils, so you might check it out. I'll bet you'll
find some that work for you. In other words, the problem with growing
daffodils in warmer climates is that you might be choosing the wrong
daffodils. Some of the species grow in very hot areas. Others in very damp
areas. Gardening is largely trial and error to find out what grows well for
you anyway, isn't it?
