I wasn't aware that you had to dig your cannas in zone 8. Unless you have
unusually wet winters or the ground freezes/thaws, I don't see the point in
digging them up. You'll have to protect them from rotting in the ground
under those conditions.
There is a canna e-mail list available (there seems to be one for just
about EVERYTHING nowadays) that has everyone from amateurs like me to
actual growers who sell them to distributors. I didn't save my sign-on
instructions unfortunately, but if you send a message to
"canna-net@muskrat.com", someone should tell you how to sign on the list.
