Hi all-
I came in from the garden not long ago and wonder if I've made a
mistake.
I planted 3 eupatorium this spring...cute little things, they were.
There grew to be much bigger than I thought and most revoltingly, for
the last several weeks they have been covered by 1" black winged bugs
with little orange/red heads. If you go near the plants, a swarm of the
bugs comes up from the plants. Any ideas on what they might be?
I just took the hedge clippers and lopped off all remaining flowers, and
cut the plant back by half, hoping this will help get rid of them. It
doesn't look like they do any damage to the plant, just to my sense of
calm and well-being when I walk about outside. If these bugs are the
norm for this plant, is it ok to move the plants now? There's no way I
want all those bugs next to my deck every year. TIA
Barb (southeastern PA, zone 6-7)
