Folks
I discovered a very strange thing this morning, or it was strange to
me. every year I gather hydrangeas for drying. About 3 weeks ago I
gathered several of them even tho I knew it was early, but the weather
being so hot, humid, and dry, I decided to get as many as possible,
because there were beginning to look pretty ratty.
I had read that you could gather them and place them in a vase of water
and by the time the water evaperated the blooms would be dry.
I had been checking them from time to time. the blooms has dried and
look really great, however there was water still in the vase, so I
decided I would pour the water off and clean the vase and rearrange the
blooms. when I took the blooms out of the vase, you won't believe
this, but the blooms are dry, the stems are still green, and "they
have rooted" what am I gonna do with 15 rooted hydrangeas
I have never had this to happen before, didn't know they would root
in water.
I've got the perfect place for them, but these plants require so much
water. during this drought I've had to water mine almost daily
has anyone ever rooted hydrangeas in water before?
comments are welcome.
