Re: hosta from seed


Ha! Paul! I do believe you've got it!  Just took trusty flashlight out to
check and they do, indeed, hang downward.  I wouldn't say exactly *tight*
against the scapes, but definitely downward...even went to look at a
different plant with pods and those do stand out from the scape.

Yippee!  And thanks for putting a name on my child.  Now, I wonder if the
plain dark green offspring are simply the species, H. ventricosa - their
seedpods hang down too.  Form, leaf shape and vigor are the same as the
parent, simply no variegation.  The parent Hosta is quite a prolific
seeder.
