Re: hosta from seed


Thanks for the picture, Paul.  And for the information from the rest of you. 
  Now I'm going out to check out all the flower stems, from the bottom up, 
to see if I can find any.  I know somebody out there produced some...since 
there are two seedlings (nondescript green, as of now, but it beats bare 
ground!)

Now I have another question, I'm almost embarassed to ask...Does polemonium 
die back in the heat of the summer, or did mine just die?  I had really good 
seed germination this spring, and potted up the plants into 4 inch pots.  
Several of them died in the pots (way too hot) so I set some of the 
healthier looking ones out in a bed and babied them all summer.  Suddenly, a 
week or so ago, they dried up and turned brown.  I've discovered I'm a whole 
lot more successful at germinating seeds than growing the plants to 
adulthood!

Paul, I guess THAT'S why so many seeds are packaged by the 100's!!
