Wild morning glory has 2" pinkish flowers with 2-3" long leaves. Bindweed has smaller, white flowers and smaller leaves. They are, obviously, related.
Bindweed goes the extra mile by freely infesting lawns and other non-climbing situations, especially dry, poor-soil situations where nothing else will
grow. They both have large, fleshy roots which are often 1' deep, making eradication difficult.

My yard was overrun with bindweed when I first bought this house and it has been a task getting rid of it. Systemics kill the foliage but the roots
eventually send up new shoots. The Ortho book says that poisons won't work and recommends pulling up shoots as they appear which eventually is supposed to
wear out the roots. Because Ortho is so pro-poison I found that to be rather intimidating advice!
