Re: Killing weeds with fire?

I remember seeing ads a few times for a "flamethrower" type weedkiller. I
believe it used propane and consisted of a cup that fit over the weed in
question, and a long handle that held the propane. When you pushed down it
ignited the propane inside the cup. I always thought it was a good idea but
in a large garden it would be a bit much. Also, soil with a very high
organic content might tend to catch fire as well as the weeds. Definitely
not for use with bark or wood chip mulches. The real question is "Would not
many of these really tough weeds come back from the roots?" The flame
wouldn't really affect the roots unless you heated the soil to a pretty high
temperature.
