Subject: Re: Potato Vine (?)
My sister who lives in Southern Missouri has a vine she calls a potato
vine.
It is similar in leaf shape to the sweet potato vine, hers doesn't bloom,
at
least I've never seen it bloom, but has little seedlets (is this a new
word)
similar in shape to potatoes and about the same light brown color. Hers
vines everywhere. She has it climbing on her deck and all around the front
of her railings around her patio. She says it is terribly invasive but she
just for the most part leaves it be. It dies back to the ground in winter
then comes back in the spring. I have some of the seeds if anyone wants
some. It doesn't sound like anyone does.
I think it is pretty if it can be kept under control.
Jean
/ Jean,
I think your description comes closer to what I have than anything I have
seen yet on this subject, particularly the part about it being terribly
invasive. If only mine were somewhere where it wasn't mixed in with
another "good" plant I would not be complaining.
