No, doesn't matter if they are stored in the dark or light. If you keep
them in a bag, won't be too light no matter where you've got them. More
important to keep them cool (but not freezing).
When they start to sprout in spring, they do need to be potted up or made
cuttings of and then they will need all the light you can muster so they
don't get rangy.
