(I need more Sedum Autumn Joy, Coreopsis Moonbeam, Salvia May Night and
pennesetum orientale, if it makes a difference) TIA
This is one HUGE bed! (at least for a novice like me...)
Barb ..The plants on your list should do fine as long as they have been
grown outside or are not small fresh cuttings.
I still have about 1/3 of my planting yet to do this year too.
I have made a few new beds this year requiring the addition of fifty yards of
new soil.
Since most of the plants that I am planting have been around the place for a
while, ether growing in small pots or in clumps, I do not expect any problems.
We are supposed to be back to our usually bitterly cold winters this year,
after a few mild winters. So I expect losses over the winter to be much
reduced this year. To day I planted
50 Filipendula ulmaria variegata, 40 Cimicifuga japonica 'Acereina', 32
Rodgersia henrici, 25 each of Hemerocallis 'Yellow Lady Slipper', Chicago
Knobby', and Shamrock Double Grape, Plus 25 Thalictrim dipterocarpum, 30
Dianthus deltoids 'Pink', 5 Shasta daisies, 25 Epimedium roseum, 20 Hosta
'Blue Blush', 30 Gaillardia, 25 Coreopsis rosea 'Alba' 25 Armeria 'Cotton
Tail' and 12 Hosta 'Lunar Orbit.
The above bed is 12 feet by 5 feet wide and 14 inches deep, I have them
planted in enough area to give me good growth for next year because they will
only be in the bed for one growing season and next summer will be dug and
divided for sale in 2001.
Tomorrow I have to get in the ground about the same number of diffrent plants.
As you can see I have confidence that my plants will make it here in
Minnesota, so as long as the plants you are planting in the ground are of
good health you should do fine too.
Paul
