Dear Prairie-l member: We are a relatively new publishing company, dedicatedFrances Reed
to keeping in print and available for purchase book titles which larger
publishers have lost interest in and have declared "out of print". We are
especially interested in scientific and technical titles. We have recently
been asked to publish "Woody Plants for the Central and Northern Prairies"
by Walter T. Bagley and Richard K. Sutton with illustrations by Nancy L
Scott. All the authors are at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. The book
is 600 pages and heavily illustrated. From the introduction: "Woody Plants
for the Central and Northern Plains" attempts to build upon the foundation
of the knowledge provided by the prairie pioneers. The authors present
gleanings from published research and the notes of professional and amateur
horticulturists, landscape designers and foresters. We strive to provide
factual information for professionals, students, farmers and urban dwellers
in the heartland of the United States. "Woody Plants for the Central and
Northern Plains" is the authors' attempt to provide descriptions and
sketches of most of the native and exotic plants in the region" Would this
title be useful, do you think? Is there a need, and an audience, for the
book? Please respond directly to me. Many thanks.
