Who can tell me about pasque flowers?
Are they short-lived perennials or is their growth and flowering sporatic
Pulsatilla patens is our native species, it is a variable plant with many
diffrent color and size forms. Like all the specoes of Pasque-Flowers they
need well drained soils that hold some moisture during the driest times of
the year.
In fall, winter and spring they need well drained soil with no stading water
or excess soil moisture. Sandy loam on hill sides seem to be the best place
to grow them.
If soil is wet for even a few days they can rot away.
Native to dry prairies and hills over much of central and western USA.
Plants can be long lived if in the right location and will self seed
abundanly n time in the right locations to form large colections of plants.
