Having visited a number of short grass prairies in the western Great
Plains, one of the most interesting and memorable prairies (beautiful,
impressive biodiversity, flora and fauna) that I examined was in
west-central North Dakota, en route to Montana (for trout fishing).  This
prairie is located at the "Cross Ranch", near Washburn ND, and is owned and
maintained by TNC.  You must have TNC permission to visit this site; TNC
staff are available on site.  Success to you!
