Soon after we started our restoration project, several species of tick
trefoils started showing up. Around here folks call them beggars ticks.
These plants tend to spread out into fairly large dense colonies shading
out everything under them. In the fall, after they form their pea like
seeds covered with "Velcro", only the woody stems remain over the bare
dirt. There isn't enough material left to provide fuel to burn. The root
system is strong enough that hand pulling is virtually impossible.
How is this aggressive group of natives controlled?
