crown vetch chemical control

Today I sprayed some crown vetch with Amine 400 2,4-D weed killer.  It is 
Dimethylamine salt of 2-4 dichlorophenoxipcelic acid 46.4% made by pbi/Gordon 
corp.  Is anyone familiar with this product, and might it work?  My next 
solution will be black plastic over the plants.  I hate chemical control.
