You may be interested in attending or knowing about an upcoming conference
that is organized around the theme of People and Prairies: Caring for
Where We Live. Since salvation of prairie remnants and creation of prairie
habitats require heavy human involvement, this conference considers (in
addition to biological and ecological information) how the experiences of
prairie have impacted people and the benefits to be gained from
understanding the prairie as a shared landscape.
This conference is cosponsored by the Grand Prairie Friends of Illinois
(www.prairienet.org/gpf), Parkland College, and the Champaign County Forest
Preserve District. Additional support has been provided by Conservation
2000 and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
Conference registration is $25 excluding meals and publications.
Registration and other information is available from Kristina Hubert, the
Conference Secretary, at 217/896-2455 or nature@net66.com.
