The United Kingdom government has dispatched the aircraft carrier HMS
INVINCIBLE in support of U.S. Navy and USMC Operations in the Persian Gulf &
Arabian Gulf, and Middle East. 

The address for HMS INVINCIBLE was provided to Operation: EAGLE by the
Ministry of Defense, UK. Those wishing to include the HMS INVINCIBLE in their
volunteer efforts can send mail to:

Schools, churches, and civic groups are also invited to construct large
posters, signed by as many volunteers as possible. Select a ship or number of
ships and send the poster(s) to the selected addresses - Attn: Commanding
Officer. 
Once received, the poster will be displayed in an area frequented by the crew
of the ship. It can lift the morale and spirits of our troops overseas, and
let them know that they are not forgotten and that America cares! 

I have headed up the OPERATION: EAGLE effort for over 15 years of my life,
from 1983-1998. OPERATION: EAGLE has seen well over 600 TONS of volunteer mail
from Americans sent to Beirut, Saudi Arabia, the Persian Gulf, Europe, Bosnia-
Herzogovinia, Somalia and Grenada. 
As Director, I would like to "get the word out" to *YOU* the outstanding
volunteers, and do whatever possible to help our Sailors and Marines receive
the support and encouragement of the American people. Mail call onboard ship
is a very special time, especially when that ship is thousands of miles away
from friends and family. Let's bring America closer to our troops overseas at
this time, when they need it the most!

Send Packages to Troops in Bosnia

Hot drink mixes and soups are good choices for care packages. Ramen style
noodle soup is a favorite with the troops -- but be sure to send the package,
not the instant soup in a cup. Lip balm, lotion and purse size facial tissues
and diaper wipes are also extremely useful.

Homefront message board for more great ideas! 

The following items are prohibited to mail to Operation Determined Effort and
Operation Joint Endeavor: 
 • Securities and currency 
 • Precious metals in their raw state 
 • Obscene articles, prints, paintings, cards, films, tapes, etc. and horror
comics. 
 • All types of firearms 
 • All alcoholic beverages and other rationed items 

Customs labels and DOD/FAA Parcel Security Statements are required. 1st
Personnel Command will oversee 105 postal workers. Mail will be sorted at
Frankfurt and go by air to mail hubs in Hungary and Bosnia. 

Mail addresses should include grade, rank and full name; the company,
battalion, brigade or task force designation assigned/attached to; and the
applicable APO number. 

APO numbers are: 
 • in the U.S. sector of Bosnia, 09789 
 • in Hungary, 09793 
 • in and around Zagreb, Croatia, 09779 
 • in and around Sarajevo, 09780.  

NOTE: Postal clerks may not be familiar with these APO numbers and may have to
look them up in their books or refer to their computers to find the package
restrictions for an APO. 

If you want to send a letter or package, and you don't have a specific soldier
in mind, you can send it to Any Service Member:

NOTE: These addresses should not be used by anyone addressing mail to a
specific service member or family member. They are designed only for those
wishing to show general support for people serving in the operations. The mail
will be delivered to the area and distributed among units there. 

Military postal officials have established a toll-free number to help those
mailing items to the Bosnia area. To verify an active ZIP code or ask about
restrictions, call (800) 810-6098 weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST.
