Hmm - I would remove the seeds from the pods. Store them dry.
the seeds are most likely all right if you did not pick the pod to soon.
In milk weeds as with most plants the pods split open before winter comes and
the seeds are dispersed. In the case of milkweeds they can float on the wind
for miles.
