Gleason and Cronquist's Manual of vascular plants of northeastern
United States and adjacent Canada (1991 edition) says the genus
Cacalia contains 50 North American and one Asian species, all
perennial herbs, a slightly different count than your source lists,
but such differences are common among "experts". I asked around and
can't find anyone who knows if that taxon is intact, but smaller, or
completely superceded by Arnoglossum. However, the aforementioned
authors do not accept the name change, so at least by their
reckoning, Cacalia is intact. (The editor -- hopeless nitpicker that
he is -- inquires, isn't "in tack" a sailing term?)
