Re: looking for info about easy-to-grow prairie plant


I my mad experimental years (2 years ago :) I successfully grew Big Bluestem
and Purple Coneflower indoors under florescent lights.  The purple cone was
fairly easy to harden off and transplant but the big blue did not like it
one bit.  Cutting the big blue down to the crown and letting it grow back
worked well, but you have to be careful not to overwater while it is
regenerating leaves.

I don't know about planting outdoors this time of year, but I suspect there
is plenty of cold weather left for decent stratification.
