I'm going to guess here, but  I think it's the Arum family of plants.  This
would include Philodendron, Zantedeschia, Anthurium.  These plants are all
characterized by the large spathe that partially surrounds a spadix (the
actual part where the flowers are, like a spike).  Anyhow, there's a 
mailing list for it, and there's some archives at
