I just came home from a Naturalized Landscape seminar where this was
discussed somewhat. What is needed in a prairie-like environment here in
our zone are warm season clump-forming grasses. They leave spaces for the
forbs to occupy. Cool season grasses in Michigan, like we use in lawns
here, develop a thick mat root system that smother out forbs.-
