This is great information indeed!  'Twould be great if the Klehm Arboretum
and Botanical gardens were to get a small prairie going -- when I was
there last year it looked like there was a lot of work to do.  Since 
you're from the same neck of the woods, any idea if they'll be participating?

For those of you further east (Chicago suburbs, about 60 miles from 
Rockford), the Kane-DuPage Soil and Water Conservation District is also
offering a tree, shrub, and prairie plant sale.  They have packages just
like the Audobon Society's (Mesic and Dry, 36 plugs to a kit, same
distribution) for about the same price.  They also have some quart-size
plant singles for $5 each:

   Amorpha canescens           Leadplant
   Ceanothus americanus        New Jersey Tea
   Rosa arkansana              Sunshine rose
   Silphium laciniatum         Compass plant
   Sporobolus heterolepis      Dropseed

I don't know if they're any better or worse than the Audobon Society -- my
guess is that they're the same.  Just visit whoever is closest to you.
The plants need to be picked up on May 29 in St. Charles, and you can call
