Do we need national legislation for prairies? Do we need a National Prairie
organization/society/association/coalition?
Yes, I know, Republicans are in charge and they are cutting funds to
conservation, but if we aren't there, educating legislators, and asking for
help, we can't be surprised when we get none. Naturally it will take years
to build the support, and someday when Congress is ready to be of
assistance, we will be there in line.
Many good things can come from national legislation specifically addressing
prairies. We definitely could use the federal dollars that national
legislation could get us.
Other national organzations could be asked to carry the water on this. Or
we could set up an American Prairie organization, and fund a lobbyist who
would coordinate the charge.
Thoughts?
