Thanks, Kelly for the offer to help draft the coalition proposal and to
contact possible coalition members! :-D Accepted!
TWO, MAYBE THREE NEXT STEPS FOR ALL OF US:
1) Let's hope to add a few more to the list....
If anyone suggests something a bit overwhelming, like "let's list all the
government agencies," I ask the suggestor to PROPOSE a specific list and
provide contact information, such as the websites and maybe some email
addresses.
2) Then, Kelly, let's draft up a message to ask the various contacts we
have accumulated if they would serve as contacts for our lil' ol'
coalition, and if their organization will endorse their doing that; if
someone else should be contacted, etc. We can also send them the database
and ask if they'll provide contacts for groups they know of that should be
on it.
That sound OK with you, Cindy? We'll run the draft by this group, and then
send it out to those we have email addresses for. I guess we could send a
hard copy to those for whom we do not have email addresses. Ack. We could
probably use some websites to contact some of the organizations.
I volunteer to keep up with the additions, changes, corrections, etc., for a
while at least, and routinely to provide the corrected list of prairie group
contacts to the members of this listserve and to provide it directly as a
real attachment to those who wish to have it. I can experiment with
different ways to export it that might work better.
3) How about some ground rules?
When there is a communication to go out to our lil' coaltion, the person who
comes up with it can send it to this listserve. Anyone on this listserve or
a coalition contact person can write it. If someone else writes it, then
they just need to have anyone on this listserve or one of the coalition
contact people forward it to us.
If it is a verifiable prairie issue needing political attention, and we are
mostly agreed on a proposed solution or action, then some designated point
person such as Cindy :-D (plus an alternate for when that person is away
from their computer, or when she/he disagrees with the majority on how to
handle the issue, in which case we will probably provide that alternative
thinking in the "fact sheet." ) can send it via email or fax to our
coalition contacts. Note that some of the coalition contacts will be
members of this listserve and will already have seen the discussion, but
probably many won't be.
We can ask these coalition contacts to send a copy to our designated
coalition point person -- Cindy? :-) of anything they actually send out
to politicians, or newspaper editors, or whomever, so we'll know how much
activity we've stirred up. Would be good, too, for Cindy to get faxed
copies of any responses they get.
More comments? Those of you who have not been checking your emails during
the Thanksgiving holidays have some catching up to do :-D
