As recommended by Carl Kurtz, I sprayed the crown vetch in my
reconstruction with Stinger this summer. It was hard to do knowing that
I would also be killing all the prairie forbs that were growing in that
area.
In September I checked the results of the spray. I found that the crown
vetch was indeed dead or dying and all the forbs species, save two, were
also dead. The two that survived the spray were cream gentian and bottle
gentian. In fact, the bottle gentian was even blooming.
Can someone tell me the proper prairie habitat for Senecia aurens,
golden ragwort? Is it moist, but not wet, prairie?
Thanks.
