Gallery Forests vs. Savanna

I am looking for the working definition of a Gallery forest in comparison to a
Savanna?  I am studying an oak woodland community along a stream in eastern
Nebraska and believe it to be a degraded oak savanna.  However, someone
brought up the question of whether it would be better described as an oak
gallery forest.  How are the two distinquished?
