Re: Pristine bibliography
Frederick Law Olmsted has written some beautiful
passages about the Blackland Prairie in Texas,
and fortunately, they are online.
Please see:
http://www.umdl.umich.edu/cgi-bin/moa/sgml/moa-idx?notisid=AAW3927
and go to page 47. And read forward.
If you want to skip to the prairies, start at page *92*,
and enjoy! (A bit of historical note, this soil
was the *BEST* soil outside of Iowa and world records for
cotton production and processing were set in this region,
records that have never been broken. Now, you are lucky
to get half of the former yield with fertilizers. The
soil is gone.)
For others interested in your area, go to search, then got to
US History, regional - and find your area.
There are a lot of very neat books here and one could spend
several weeks online :) just reading them.
