One more sleep in NZ

Tomorrow is the big day with the fourth annual Energy
FM/Star Pumpkin Festival.

Kawerau weighed in today (Saturday 8th) with a 223 Kilo
monster grown in the back of beyond outside Opotiki. It was grown in a
valley in broken hill country and had to be brought in by helicopter -
ingenious lot these Kiwi's.

We have a good day organised with the grand marquee,
terrific blue/R&B singer - Lincoln Mail, lots of stalls etc and lots of
pumpkin food. Lots of locals will be eating pumpkin pie for the first time
in their lives along with pumpkin pikelets, muffins, soup and all sorts. The
forecast is good, sunny with a bit of cloud. We have had four days of heavy
rain so it was looking a bid dodgy at one stage.

I will try my best to get postings out at about every half
hour from 12 Noon. The day starts at 7.00 with burying cables and the
marquee going up. Of the four I had in my back yard, two were rotten at the
base and the other two are in the car waiting to be first on the scales. I
reckon Dusty will be around 80 KGs perhaps less. Disappointing but at least
they are there and it has been a very poor season weather wise.

		Have a 'Parky' day

		John S
