         A gentlemen from a garden show on tv I was watching recommended 1 
cu.(approx. a small pickup truck load) for each 160 sq. ft. area. He said 
this would give you about a 2 1/2 inch cover over the entire area. Given that 
most Ag growers use around 900 to 1000 sq. ft. per plant you would then need 
5 to 6 cu yds. per plant.  If you are just getting started this would be a 
good place to start.  Other well known growers I know add about half that 
much each fall to their patch once they have it established.
