How much compost
I am having some mushroom compost tilled into my patch. Is there any rough
recommendation for the amount per sq ft or other standard (depth in inches) I
might aim for.
The soil is all clay and the compost also helps break it up.
Last year was my first AG ezperience and I achieved 4 200 lbers in a
small patch. This year I will cull the smaller ones. After I picked the
pumpkins in early Oct., the plants took off again with a profusion of
blossoms. Seemed a shame to have them go down with the first frost.
After Halloween, we cut them up at the rate of about 1 per week. We
didn't get to them all before it got too cold. I kept the last one in the
garage until it leaked fromthe many freeze-thaw cycles. It was much easier to
cut up. Out of curiousity, any chance any seed from that one would be any
good? I've discarded them since I had absoutely no use for them.
