Floating row covers are effective only if you can keep the parent moths out.
Unfortunately, with AGs, the chances are that the size and expanse of the
plants is such that floating row covers will not do much good (except
perhaps early in the summer before the plants get too big). Furthermore,
you do not want to put a weight strain on the plants leaves after the plant
gets going (early on, you can "float" the cover; later on it will be just
hanging there). Thus, you might be able to completely cover the plants
early in the season, but this remedy probably will not work for the entire
season.
This may not do you any good based upon the life cycle of the parent moths.
If the moths are not present early in the season when the plants are small,
floating row covers may do no good at all.

Has anyone found floating row covers to be a deterrent to the dreaded squash
vine borer. I have found three or four insecticides that will kill the
squash vine borer if sprayed weekly during June and July. Unfortunately,
the all cause genetic damage to humans. This eliminates growing pumpkins
near edible vegetables and with kids in the neighborhood, I would prefer
that they all have no more than the normal two arms and two legs.
