Hey, about that tiller the Troy built 8 Horse is a great tiller. My front tine 5.5 Craftsman will till 12 -14 in. deep which is deeper than the tine cover on the Troy will allow you to go, but it still tills about 10 in. or so. Since I only use it once a year it's better for me to get together with other people and rent one, which brought my cost to about 20 dollars. Have fun and I hope this helps John in Prosser.

ok. all you troy built fans,tell me will a troy built tiller pull itself up a hill while tilling 8 to 10 in. deep in fairly heavy soil. if so what size?   my sears can,t do it and i,m getting a little ticked.  thanx     craig
